Whisk & Paddle

Singapore / Punggol

Punggol Riverside is one of the most serene getaway in Singapore, and a small area of F&B and recreational set-ups have been developing in this area. Whisk & Paddle has got to be one of the most fortunate cafes to be surrounded by greens and a peaceful  Punggol River. With a lovely interior and ambience, this cafe is one of the dreamiest destination in Singapore on a weekend.

For the very reason it is located far from town, you can find peace in this little haven, which has got all the elements that would slow your weekend down.

The interior is simple and comforting, and you get to enjoy your food and drinks in a very open environment.

Since it’s an outdoor environment, it can get rather warm in the afternoon and that’s probably the only thing about the cafe I would fuss about.

Coffee on a weekday perks me up, and coffee on a weekend calms me down. The latte here is quite the average but good enough.

The weekend was hard earned, and I decided to give myself a treat with its sumptuous Breakfast Plate.  It had got all the necessary ingredients and was indeed filling. However, the freshness and taste were lacking and more work has to be done to improve this dish.

My companion indulged in the Nachos and Cheese, to satisfy her long-time craving for this dish. However, it was also disappointing as the chips were not crispy and the sauces were also barely passable.

I think we were running into bad luck, as even the Carrot Cake didn’t work out well. It was stiff and stale, unfortunately.

As much as I loved the sweet ambience and scenic view, Whisk & Paddle has to work on improving the quality of its food for it to be a worthy hunt.  I would recommend it as a destination for a peaceful getaway, but one has to be prepared for an average meal.
